And that is the problem with deregulation. When making these decisions, the cheaper options will tend to win out. If you regulate that everything needs to be prepped for a 100 year event, then you take that decision away from them.

LMAO, you cannot afford this in any sense whether it is power generation or operating a private business... To even suggest it shows just how stupid you are when it comes to something like this...

Why would the government make you prep everything for a 100 year event? Flood Zones, designated by regulation, are not based off of 100 year events.

What size generator do you have at your house for whole house back up? What does it run on; propane, NG or diesel? Do you have a month's supply of MRE's? How much bottled water to you have stored up? Are you fully prepared for a 100 year event? Are you ever right about anything? IF NG, wouldn't you be subject to the same problems the the electric companies? If diesel, how do treat so that it does not gelatinize a subfreezing temps and in tanks for probably years? I have seen propane regulators freeze up under continuous use in above freezing temps. Are you prepared?
