The wife (no pics) hates the current tub and wants to replace it. What kind of cost am I looking at for this project? Any company recommendations in the BR/Ascension area would be appreciated too

Rebath oar something similar is best option. You'll be tearing out more than just a tub to get a new one to fit

Measure and hope that tub fits through door frames, down stairs and out of the house.

Unless the tub is damaged, I just can't see replacing an upstairs tub. Seems like it would be more trouble than it's worth. Surprised your wife just doesn't go with a walk in shower for upstairs. Do you have a tub downstairs as well?
Wait- I just saw the pictures...have one of those ladies at your house so I can give an in person recommendation! lol

Yes we have a tub downstairs. The tub upstairs looks like it’s a handicap tub, including metal handles. It’s odd and ugly

Ok, I understand why you would want to replace it. But one day if you stay in that house for years and years, you may be grateful you kept it! We all get old...
Al I know is labor may be a bitch to get that old one out...

It might not be a big deal. is it a acrylic or fiberglass tub?
Is it tiled in? What is the length?

Since it’s an upstairs bathtub, I’d like to keep the replacement cost down. I’m willing to use whichever material offers a better value for the replacement. It’s not tiled in, it currently has the panels. I don’t know the length but it feels elongated.

I don't know if it helps but I had a jacuzzi tub and a 36" walk in shower. My shower cracked so ripped it out and made it into a closet. I also ripped out the tub and put in an all tile walk in shower 6' x 4'. Its the best thing I could have done.

I did a the entire closet myself and all the demo on the tub. Tile guy charged me $1000 labor to do the shower, $100 bucks for plumber (buddy of mine), $1400 for bench, rubber floor liner, tile and grout, $600 for the door.
