The track ain't pretty for LA so far. The good news football-wise is it should be a minor factor if any for LSU this weekend. For the Saints home opener it should be done and past as well. Let's just hope there is no major aftermath to deal with if LA bound. Still way early for worry or relief.

So I know I'm overly dramatic, but I'm guaging it at a 5% chance that we've seen our last New Orleans Hornets game and last Saints regular season game in the Superdome
.
Which is crazy. It's almost as likely that we will lose both of our pro sports teams as it is that one of them will win a championship this season.

very overdramatic is correct

But what would you put the odds at?
Given the current track of Gustav, there's probably a 10% chance it hits us directly enough, and a 33% chance that if it does hit us directly it will be strong enough to flood the city.
If the city is flooded there's about a 75% chance that both the Hornets and Saints are gone forever.
So I guess I should reduce it to 2.75%
The Saints odds of winning the Super Bowl are probably about 6%
Hornets odds of winning the NBA title are probably about 7%.

Well I'll be seeing THE last game tomorrow if that's the case. Nothing is stopping us from coming to town!

There's a lot of eerie similarities between this time and Katrina. Saints 2nd preseason game, us breathing a sigh of relief as we thought we had just dodged the bullet (Katrina in 05, Fay in 08) only to have a Cat 4 bearing down on us again before we can blink, LSU about to kick off their home schedule, etc.

2% ?
What percent do you put it at? The possibility is there.

Here's the deal.
We obviously all know there is a chance were gonna get hit by Gustav. But I'm not gonna take a bad situation and make it worse by thinking that my SAINTS are never gonna play here again!
Optimism....you should try it sometime

Alejandro, you getting a lil jumpy there, huh?
Posted on 8/27/08 at 3:16 pm to tubucoco
if you call 2.75% jumpy.
It's not like you're out getting your "Saints Super Bowl XLII Champion" tattoo inked into your back, and that possibility is probably twice as likely to come to fruition.
Besides, I believe that by confronting the worst case scenario and addressing its possibility I will also be jinxing it.
Edit to add: I just lowered the odds again. Even if Gustav does hit us, traditionally we see a considerable slowing of the storm before it makes landfall. Katrina was the exception and even she slowed somewhat.

why the frick do you feel the need to put a percentage on it? yeah, there's a 1% chance a meteor hits the earth and kills us all in the next 100 years....so what, why freak out about it?
Posted on 8/27/08 at 3:27 pm to josh336
you seem to be the one freaking out about it. im just calculating the odds.
I'm sure we'll be okay! I love New Orleans
