Here’s the thing: DeSantis can do that and be palpable to suburban and women voters. That sounds like a better plan to me.

You also liked the idea of Nikki Haley running 6 months ago.

DeSantis is a great choice, but palability towards female voters is the last metric by which a GOP candidate should be chosen

None of that matters though, because Trump WILL run, regardless of whether he should or not

To be fair I think that was over a year ago. Barring rigging it (again not likely) I have no doubt Nikki Haley could beat Kamala Harris in a fair election.

But we’re in a fricking emergency right now and we need a specific President. You don’t want to bring up a President who oversaw Covid and the January 6th riots. What you do want is to bring up a governor that stood up for freedom, handled Covid the best in the United States (26th per capita but also is the most elderly state by far making this all the more impressive), and will throw his bullying and tyrannical adversaries into woodchippers like Trump does but without the racist conning drunk uncle vibe going for him. That’s what we need.

Me saying Nikki Halley in 2019, that ship has sailed. And I do think I briefly in 2020 said to ditch Pence for Haley to get the suburban women vote, but I quickly changed my mind to ditch Pence for Noem. We need DeSantis. I truly think history has called upon this man to save us. He could be what Trump pledged to be and without the major frick ups he has done.

Here’s the thing: the women’s vote was not Trump’s Achilles Heel. He gained with women overall from 2016. Nor is it the urban vote which he also gained. It’s suburbia that’s his Achilles Heel. That we’ve got to solve, or we never win again.
