Exactly.

No retail trader is big enough to manipulate the market. The Redditors had to hope tens of thousands of unconnected people did the same thing.

You would also have to prove that an individual investor was trying to cause the market to behave a certain way as opposed to taking advantage of a widely publicized situation.

You mean. Like a guy posting dialy about everyone buying together and causing a short squeeze on a social media sites? Cause yeah.....they're probably not done breaking it off in wsb arse after that stunt
