Making an impromptu trip this weekend to Asheville with a pregnant wife and toddler. Looking for any tips on what to do, what might be open, etc?

To save you some time, try using the search feature on this board, Asheville is one of the top three questions people ask on here, you should find more info than you’ll ever need

Plenty of great hiking in the area.
The North Carolina arboretum is fun
Black Mountain is a great little town that's about 20 minutes east of Asheville.
I'd visit the Biltmore, Biltmore Village, and the Grove Park Inn.

Yep used it, but was also looking for some more anecdotal information if anyone has been there more recently with COVID possibly affecting a lot of restaurants being open, tours, etc.

quote:I went this summer. It’s pretty much open but limited in capacity. If you are going while it’s cold it may be difficult as most dining and bars/breweries were using the outdoors in the warmer weather. Make reservations for restaurants, make reservations for places like Biltmore etc. (try and do it first thing in the morning), and breweries are packed at limited capacity so expect long lines. You’ll probably have to wait outside for all of these. Masks are required everywhere (including sidewalk) once you leave your room/house.

This place is on my list, especially after reading One Second After.

Bars/restaurants were closing at 9 pm a few months ago when my wife went. Not sure now. With a toddler and pregnant wife, much of what I do when I go (hike, drink beer) is out.

We go to Montreat every summer. Love that place.
Not sure if a pregnant wife and toddler can manage, but there are great hiking trails in Montreat.

There's a really good burger joint called Farm Burger. You have to stop there.

Looking Glass Trail - Did this last summer. Pouring rain midway through. I was wearing chaos fortunately.
If you don't mind getting muddy you can slide down instead of zig zag all the way down.
