I think what's been made known that's above all else the most frightening thing is that the Judiciary and court system has put us on notice it's willing to forego blind application of the law and justice and instead exercise its discretion "for the greater good" as it sees fit and when it sees fit. I must admit that until now I was naively convinced that judges (federal and otherwise) more or less faithfully discharged their duties irregardless of whether there may be a political shitstorm going on outside the courthouse doors. I was woefully wrong. They are indeed very political, and again, use the justification of "greater good" and "ends justify the means" in their political actions.
The primary reason why perhaps it's more frightening than anything else we've seen.....they're there to stay. Can't penalize them by voting them out. Which emboldens them even more. And they're literally the last and final step in righting wrongs in this country.
