Thoughts
1- no way someone named Dallas Sonnier isn’t from Louisiana
2- if Daily Wire didn’t control the distribution method, how exactly would a “conservative” movie (which is so ridiculous that we even have to have that distinction) get distributed. WTF is Netflix gonna show a movie produced by Ben Shapiro?
3- I am glad that Ben Shapiro is in the movie business now. The dude loves movies and would probably insist on quality content.
Some “conservative” movies tend to be only religious films (even tho some of them have been really well done, Ex the Bible series that played on the history channel about 7 or 8 yrs ago was fantastic) or overly schmaltzy. I’m all for some family values entertainment being available to families, but there’s a certain edginess to conservative thought that is not often well captured on movies targeted to adults. I’m talking just from a straight up literary standpoint, are they well acted and produced.
I think some notable exceptions would be the Unforgiven (the greatest western ever made), Hell or Highwater (I know also a western but at least modern and has the baddest arse soundtrack) and Richard Jewell (I know, another Clint Eastwood movie but I’m obsessed with him and this was Cathy Bates best role ever). These movies sort of capture that individualist rebel libertarian vibe that I see as the essence of conservatism. I freaking love a good antihero. These movies are fascinating studies each of them in individual ethics and morality- that isn’t subject to law; but instead each in their own way discuss the dangers of government overreach and incompetence. Hopefully Ben can pick up where Clint Eastwood leaves off.
4) the fact that conservatives have to make their own movies because leftists are too scared of themes discussing individuals determining their own fate based on their religious or other moral beliefs - makes me abhor leftists even more. I watch their crappy preachy movies that tell me how horrible I am and don’t demand that it’s “banned.” (Except that pervo movie Cuties-the trailer of which alone was completely unacceptable).

Well right now it’s on their site, but I suspect they’d release it the way any other independent productions are typically released worldwide before the pandemic.

I'm all for someone like Ben distributing it. I just wanted it where it could be fee streamed so that it could get monetary support and encourage more. Free is great but and all but that won't sustain an industry.
