I think we're largely on the same page.
I can see at some point that a professional licensing body who knows a member is offering services to the public and is unwell might impose some obligation to act to prevent very predictable harm. But here, it's not like Lin Wood is a small town lawyer who is bipolar with a gambling problem and none of his prospective clients know about it. He's a high profile guy and the risk to the public is low.
The issue here is that a risk to the reputation of the bar is high, but as a member of said bar, that's not good enough for me. If we really held everyone to a high public standard, I could be persuaded to apply that to Lin. But the country is overflowing with completely dishonest and unapologetic attorneys who are high profile (Gloria Allred, etc.) and even more who are public officials (Paul Howard) and if they're not getting the same treatment - then this is bullshite.
