Let's just keep in mind:

1. He is not coordinating the defense for us like he was at Miami. We just hired a guy to do that.

2. There is a reason he was made DC--probably because he was a pretty good position coach.

3. Saban does this all the time with guys, shite he just hired goddamn Bill O'Brien. Not saying Orgeron deserves anywhere near the slack Saban does but it can work out.

4. He is 38 years old. Gotta think he is hungry to prove people wrong. He has had good defenses in the past.

Surely nobody will bash the LB coaching hire?

What's not to like as him as the LB coach?

13th in total defense in a normal year with a normal offseason

Mediocre in a pandemic year where defense was an afterthought. The eventual national champs gave up 40+ multiple times

But all of that is irrelevant in the grand scheme of things because like you said, he’s not even the DC here

Forget facts. Bash him.

Also he was actually a pretty good DC except for this past pandemic year when he dealt with opt outs and shite.

Top 15 in 2019 and was solid at LaTech before that.

Tons of Louisiana ties as well.

Great hire.

He does have a porn star beard. Either let that shite grow, or shave it off.

I do like the fact that he's coached LBs AND safeties in his career. Against these mesh/spread offenses the distinction between the two positions is getting more and more fuzzy.

If you want to confuse a QB (or the WRs), one way to try and do that is disguise those two position's responsibilities. So that experience should be helpful at a minimum.

Seems he also coached WRs at some point too. What the hell... that can't hurt either.

Even though I had some favorite names... I like the hire. Beard gotta go though (hey, have to be negative about something here).

I have to wonder if LSU even considered Mike McDonald the LB coach with the Ravens...who just signed on with the M Wolveries as DC/LB coach.
We could have had a better resume for both DC and LB coach all in one with him....who worked with a TOP NFL defense....not a below average one. I just wonder...

He's more qualified than the DC hire. Who's complaining?

I mean has he shown any success as a LBer coach that was meaningful? Has he shown any propensity to recruit well? If the answer to either of those is no, then it is a bad hire.

Good coach but even better person. Know him from his Ruston days. Good addition to the staff

What I’ve learned in the last couple of weeks is the majority of posters here have no clue. Most talk all day and say nothing of value.
