I have an America first, state second mentality. So whatever "California vs. Taxes" rhetoric you have there ....
The good news is that I am an American first, a Californian second. If there was a referendum to leave the Union in the Golden State, I would vote no on leaving with patriotic pride. The nation's health comes first.
Most of you are Americans who happen to live in (insert state).
Most of US (at least those of us with a Texas lineage) are TEXANS, who happen to be Americans because Texas is currently part of the USA. This concept is foreign to you. We understand that.

Oh, so a relatively small portion of Texas' current population. Unless we are considering everyone born in Texas to be a Texan and have "Texas lineage". Where is that absurd line drawn, after all?

Ignoring that as soon as Texans ousted Mexico, they begged to be brought in to the US.
