I see this a lot and never quite get it. The front leaves a little to be desired but I think the back 9 is a great stretch of golf holes. 18 needs a hazard protecting the green, but otherwise I really enjoy it.

Its flat and wide-open. Very little imagination with the design. 2 is a good par 3 from the back tees and 13 is a legit par 4 with the water left and the trees making the right to left desired tee shot harder. It lacks a signature, standout hole which makes you want to go back and play again. If I'm being charged over $100 to play a golf course, there needs to be something memorable about it. I recall when it first opened the green fees were upwards of $200. Insane for what you actually experience.

I remember hearing rumors when it was being built about it becoming the Torrey Pines of the gulf region in terms of public golf. There was thinking that it would draw the Zurich away from TPC. I can't ever see that happening.

Well a lot of people think Torrey Pines is wildly overrated and not a very good design so maybe it is becoming Torrey Pines

It’s in south Louisiana. Outside of spending an insane amount of money most courses down here are gonna be flat. They could put a bunch of oaks along the fairways but then the course would probably be in worse condition. IMO they should have put more hazards, but I think part of the design was to make it playable to all skill levels.

We just have poor topography in S. LA for golf unfortunately.
