Seems every month the NICS checks are setting new records. More guns being purchased = more ammo being purchased.

I absolutely struggle to pay the current prices for ammo. $300 for 1k of 223 was about the MOST I’d ever pay for range ammo, $250 for 9 or 7.62x39. Now it’s $500 plus IF you’re lucky enough to find it at that price AND in stock.

I’ve come to the conclusion since the election was stolen that the prices we see now may be the new norm for a while. In fact in 2 mos prices may settle at numbers even higher for God knows how long. Our illegitimate government and rogue ATF surely aren’t going to do anything in the foreseeable future to relieve prices.

For those fortunate enough to have stockpiled what they feel is “enough” ammo, great. But for others, including new gun owners, the price is the price.

And finally, if you’ll allow me to vent: it absolutely infuriates me to see on local gun sites folks jamming fellow gun owners on ammo prices. I know, I know, every man for himself, free market, etc. But I’ve always seen the gun community as somewhat a family. I’m not asking or expecting anyone to sell 9mm at the $.20/rd price they paid 18 mos ago. And maybe these guys are standing in line every morning at Academy, buying up the $.30/rd(?) and trying to “help” those of us who can’t go to Academy every morning. But c’mon, $.90/rd for Winchester white box, Monarch, and the like? Help a brother out!
