I can understand the Saints not wanting to lose a coach to another NFL team for a lateral move.
Going from the NFL to college is clearly NOT a lateral move.
Also, Being the Defensive Coordinator is a higher level than a position coach. I would also expect the pay to be higher.
There must be more to it.
