While it’s smart to do that, having leaks via your media is dumb. There is 0 reason any of this should have went public. This should have been all behind closed doors.
1. The saints now look like an organization that wants to stop the growth of its assistants. This is a bad look when you are wanting to hire the best.
2. You have the LSU/ Saints fans that you are now putting in a bucket and forcing them to choose a side. This is going to be a potential loss of revenue to the saints.
So while they are smart to do this, they buttfricked the pr part up by letting this leak. If they didn’t let it leak on purpose then whoever leaked it should be fired.

All of this will blow over, one way or the other. And most people who are LSU and Saints fans will stay that way. People forget about stuff quickly.

I don't understand how a multimillion apparatus like LSU athletics does not have better PR and messaging
