If she is too gun shy and nervous to operate a semi automatic imo she needs more training around guns anyway. The nice thing about a semi is you can leave a magazine loaded and next to a semi, easily train to load the magazine and load a round into the chamber. It’s not as simple as a revolver but safer around kids imo. Or leave the loaded magazine in. I get a revolver is KISS, but it’s just too dangerous for my liking loaded around kids.

My firearms that are for self defense are loaded. Last thing I want to have to do is load a pistol or rifle when I feel threatened. I don't care how much training you get it can still go bad.

Shooting competitions has shown me this. You can have a Grand Master go to load his $3,000 race pistol and not seat the mag all the way and a round isn't loaded into the chamber. That pistol in your night stand could have the mag not properly seated and you won't know that until you go to load it.

Well keeping loaded guns in a house with kids is idiotic I don’t care what you say.

Furthermore, anything can always happen. I would NEVER assume a gun is loaded or unloaded. What if you cleaned your gun after the range and didn’t load it and you go to use it assuming it’s loaded?

I understand the hate, but loading a mag and chambering a round even in high stress is as easy as it gets to stay safe. There’s not a perfect answer.
