go look at his coaching development including QB coach. YET HE IS HORRIBLE.

who was his HC and co-coordinators and YET he flamed out in epic proportions plus he took Tony’s team and basically won and burned it down. Terrible coach. He did learn after 20 years of watching games. Maybe that helped.

On this guy Neilsen
Here is all you need to know. He was a CO DC once at Northern Ill for 2 seasons and mostly Dline.

He is more than qualified to run the dline. Building his own defense? Not even close.

What you all really need to know is THIS. If this guy is hired it has nothing to do with a proven ability to build and run a defense. It has everything to do with the fact that Orgeron hired him before at Ole Miss.

It is a frickING PATTERN OF BEING ABLE TO TRY TO CONTROL HIS COACHES AND/OR HIRE HIS BUDDIES. OPEN YOUR frickING EYES!

“Nielsen served as the defensive line coach at the University of Mississippi from 2005-07 under current LSU Head Coach and former Saints assistant Ed Orgeron, following one season at the University of Idaho, where he coached two freshman All-Americans. Rebels defensive linemen led the Southeastern Conference in sacks twice during his three-year stint.”

You are right in one respect, McDaniels did run the Broncos into the ground. He is a complete control freak and wanted full GM responsibilities as well.

Denver, fortunately never gave him the GM responsibilities or things would have been even worse during his time there.

I believe you are dead wrong about Ryan Nielsen though. He has been the primary person who has built that defensive line for the saints. You are trying to tell me he has learned absolutely nothing about what it takes to be a DC during his time there, or at his other coaching stints??

Joe Brady was a total unknown when he was hired as what effectively was our OC, whether anyone wants to admit that or not. He had zero experience in that role, and yet proved not only was he damn good at running an offense, he was the best ever to be seen in NCAA Div I football.

Nielsen comes in with much more experience from his previous roles than Brady did at that time, and you are still trying to say Nielsen is nowhere near qualifed to be a DC.

It remains to be seen, but I believe you are going to not only be proven wrong, but dead wrong. You will be eating your words by next season if Nielsen becomes our DC.
