Yea itll burn arse out of a rifle barrel. Same thing goes for the other "revolver" calibers that have big cases of slow powder. Its pretty widely considered to be as good as you can do with a handgun far as effectiveness goes. I had a short barreled .357 once and shooting full power 125gr out of it was like having a flashbang go off in your hands.

I have a 2.5" stainless Model 66 I bought new in the early 90s that I'll never get rid of, but it's loaded with Buffalo Bore short barrel ammo. You lose a little velocity but it won't blind you.
