Same here. The black kids used to be able to skip MLK day without penalty

Man, those were the good old days. No cell phones, no internet. Call blocking meant leaving the landline phone out of the cradle. You could leave the house at 8am to go hang out with whatever friend you could find walking around town, and parents' only rule was "be home by dinner". Riding on the back pegs of your friend's BMX bike to get across town quicker just to drop the bike off at his house and wander aimlessly for hours.

I wouldn't even want to be a kid now. When my kids were growing up and I was telling them stories about how life used to be, I'd see envy in their eyes and I'd actually feel sorry for them. Social media and technology have made a huge world way too small and secular.
