Not true. My dad smoked a beef tenderloin on the BGE for Xmas dinner. Had TWO therm units bug out on him during the cook. First one freaked out and started recording an IT of 250 degrees one hour into the cook. The second unit stalled out at 111 degrees. When I started asking questions as to why this is taking so long (my internal clock was going off), my dad goes and spot checks the tenderloin...155 degree IT. Ruined Xmas dinner.

Guess what he's getting from me next Christmas? A quality therm unit.
