My wife got some Asparagus seedlings from Sam’s and they seem to grow easy. I believe it takes a few years for them to start producing. From what we read the roots get to be huge.

My conundrum is what to plant them with. I have 9 root balls waiting to go in the trenches. Debating planting them with the strawberries for perennial purposes or tomatoes for companion benefits. Only issue with the latter is I'll till in peat moss and manure every year, so won't be able to do that with asparagus roots down there.

The package my wife bought from Sam’s had 33 plants.

Damn that's a lot! Stereotypical Sam's
