I agree that will likely not be a trial. However, I did see some "legal experts" on tv saying that if the Articles of Impeachment are passed in the House prior to Trump leaving office; he can still be tried and convicted (if enough republicans flip) in the Senate after he leaves office. It does not carry any penalty other than making him ineligible from holding federal office again.

ETA: Yes his attorneys would get to present evidence to support him. They would also get to present evidence in his defense at any criminal case that might arise.
