I didn't even know they still made radar detectors. I only use Waze these days, but I don't go on many road trips. But when I do, I do drive like a bat out of hell. I've had a lot of good luck over my lifetime and gotten very few speeding tickets. But for most interstate travel these days, I think Waze is going to have you covered 80-90% of the time.

I got the radar detector right before my 8.5 hr trip over to Arkansas. I didn't have time to upgrade the firmware. But wanted to give a few tips/review about it if anyone cares.

Over the 8.5 hr trip there I encountered 2 times where I was speeding and the radar detector saved me with nothing on Waze.

The first was an unmarked car in West Memphis where the cop was eating and damn near wiped me out as I passed him going the speed limit because he was trying to eat a huge takeout box of what I assume was chinese food. But good news, I didn't fly by him because I saw his radar long before I saw him.

Second was in the Arkansas rice fields and there was someone going -5 with someone else behind them refusing to pass. I also had a tractor trailer behind me that had already tried to pass me and 2 tractor trailers together so I was being pushed a bit. I pulled out to pass them both on a LONG flat section and immediately my radar went off. So I pulled up and went back behind the two cars and low and behold, there was a county cop sitting up there. No telling the amount of money it saved me on that ticket.

Then today I had to go down to South Georgia and encountered 2 state troopers driving on the hwy that I saw about a mile out.

So far I'm impressed. Not to say I would get a ticket every time. Especially today I wouldn't have because I was towing a trailer. But as I get to know the signals it's been well worth it.

I have gotten quite a few false positives which come from either passive warning systems or crash detection. It's fairly easy to tell those now and I'm used to now hitting mute.

I didn't lie. I'm not a super speeder, but I do speed. I don't get how anyone can just doodle around when driving.
