They wanted someone young and upcoming with 25 yrs and zero bad seasons of play calling experience

ALways the correct answer on the rant.

I’m happy about the hire, only thing that makes me question things is Brady is on a short list of hires to be a head coach... wouldn’t he want those guys on his staff if he liked them so much?

There would be nothing stopping him from hiring them away from LSU immediately. I guess time will tell.

Maybe Brady doesn’t think they are ready to be NFL playcallers.. I know the rant won’t like that answer/theory

God Dam it! I wanted urban Meyer. He could have also been the HC in waiting

Okay this is a little dishonest and I’ve seen it posted a few times.
1.) we had zero real expectation for Joe Brady coming in as a PGC when his name first surfaced because no one knew who the hell he was. We didn’t really have high expectations filling a PGC role on staff, before Brady it was a nothing role for the most part.
2.) once he was hired or it came out that he was hired, we got a massive windfall of preseason hype about how revolutionary he is and how he will overhaul the LSU passing game into new heights.
—now in reaction to that hype there was a bit of a back lash and skepticism. And how could you blame anyone for that skepticism after years of hearing the same false promises every single offseason that turned into disappointment as soon as we kicked off.
It turned out that he was super awesome and was worth the hype, but that doesn’t mean that you should throw out every level of skepticism or doubt about a hire just because we hit the jackpot on Brady.
With all that being said I’m super excited about the direction we went with this hire, and I’m also not sure what other direction people really wanted. Maybe it doesn’t work out but the decision making process behind is solid

What I like is even if these guys crush it, they may stick around a while.

Coaching is a fraternity and he wants to see those guys get opportunities to grow and be successful
And when he gets hired to be a HC, I’m sure they’ll be on the short list to join his staff. Having a chance to run your own show on offense is an opportunity that Joe Brady can’t really provide in Carolina and likely won’t provide when he’s a HC

If they crush it they’ll be gone nearly as quickly as Brady
And that’s a good thing. Don’t resign yourself to mediocre coaches because you’ve got some unresolved insecurities about Brady leaving after a season

I don't recall that being the case. Most were excited because (1) he was from the Payton "tree" which most are very aware of here and (2) it seemed to represent actual progress rather than just empty statements (i.e. "I'm going to hire the 'best coordinators' in the country...here's your new OC, Steve Ensminger")
These guys may be just as good, if not better than Brady (though that would be a TALL task considering what was accomplished in 2019). However, any disappointment is product of heightened expectations more than anything else. In 2019 ANYTHING would have seemingly been better than what we were used to. Now, the expectation is production close one of the best offensive seasons in college football history. And when that is the baseline/expectation, hiring guys with no documented history of tangible success can be "underwhelming" for some
