Love how they had Under Armour gear for the carter team... even though under Armour wasn’t invested to 16 years after the movie took place.

Some real Dallas Carter guys were real badarses, until they got sent to Huntsville.

quote:

Derric Evans and Gary Edwards stopped in, although the 19-year-old clerk didn't know their names or that they starred on Carter's recently crowned state champion football team. She later learned it was Edwards who drew a .22 revolver from a Crown Royal bag. Evans was the 6-3 guy who reached over the counter and emptied the cash register. Edwards hopped the counter and trailed her to a back room, demanding more money. They drove away, laughing, in Evans' red Camaro with their $256 take and $3.24 movie rental, Coming to America.

quote:

An hour after the first holdup, they had robbed another Video Exchange. Alerted police spotted the Camaro, and soon the 17-year-olds were in the back seat of a squad car.

quote:

Police eventually traced 21 robberies by 15 teenagers from the Carter neighborhood. Six of them were Carter football players, three of whom pulled the first holdup five days after the state title victory.
