What the actual frick? Wikipedia makes zero sense here.

Freedia identifies as a gay man and has stated that he does not care which pronoun is used to refer to him.
Is what it should say. Freedia is not transgender.

Like I said in the other thread.
Its one thing if "Latoya" wrote that letter about Daigle.
But its a whole another thing that Latoya wrote that letter as "Mayor Latoya, City of NOLA" about Daigle.
If I was Daigle, I'd sue TF outta Latoya and the city of NOLA for slander.

I've long been a proponent of renaming Lee Circle to Big Freedia Circle.

Bruh, he's a tranny.

I think we have to take into consideration what the person identifies as. So Big Freedia says he’s a gay man (who just happens to do his nails and wears dresses) - then he is a gay man, not trans
I identify as a billionaire - do you want a yacht or a sports car??

Think he is more of non-conforming type shite.

How do I identify? I do not mind if you call me “he” or “she.” Both are right! Although some of my early influences were the drag queens of New Orleans (including my uncle), I don’t wear dresses or high heels. I was born male and remain male—physically, hormonally and mentally. But I am a gay male. Some folks insist I have to be trans, but I don’t agree.

Lauren Daigle was never an option to host. It was just rumored.
Posted on 12/28/20 at 6:46 pm to tzimme4
I think she was an option. It was the option that Nungesser was going to pitch to ABC. Nothing had been agreed to.
Would ABC have agreed? Not sure.
Freedia probably fits the format of New Years rockin eve these days. I don't really know Daigle's music, but conservative christian crossover music doesn't seem like the type of thing Seacrest or ABC are big promoters of.

All I know of Big Freida is the Juan Lafonta commercials.

And that's fricking sad, because it isn't music.

I'd probably be more willing to watch Freedia than Daigle, but that isn't saying much. I don't think I am Seacrest's target audience though.
I'd much rather the the 500k go to building a monthlong series, to air on LPB, promoting local artists that I can stream into my house. Pay 100 artist/groups $4k a gig and use the other 100k or so for production value of renting venues like 30/90, Spotted Cat, Tipitinas, Maple Leaf, etc to record in.

Did Dick Clark productions offer Big Freedia a contract?
Posted on 12/28/20 at 7:10 pm to Slagathor
They made the press release today so probably so.

If it was just a rumor then why did Latoya fire off the letter demanding Daigle to be pulled from the telecast?
Posted on 12/28/20 at 7:25 pm to Slagathor
Latoya probably got word that Nungesser was pimping Daigle as the act. Nunguesser's pitch was Daigle to headline and 500k to make it all happen. ABC night have taken the idea, might not, might have said no before the story broke, or Toya being a bitch made them not risk it.
It appears that a promotion company puts together the idea of a show and ABC accepts or rejects the idea. Or they just buy the time for advertising/tourism. Solomon Group appears to be the promoter doing the go between for whatever happens.
Whether Toya just didn't like Daigle, didn't like Nunguesser, had her own ideas and was left out, just on a powertrip is all within belief.
Nunguesser took his ball and went home when Toya entered the chat. Then Toya had to prove she had the big clit and put the city's money on the line.

Exactly - if New Orleans is going to be New Orleans - then Big Freedia fits the bill
I don’t care for either but I think you might as well get a New Orleans native to host the show
