I would like to gift my nephew a guided fishing experience. Salt water or fresh water works. Last year I gifted a marsh trip out of Dulac, it was incredible, he still talks of the trip today.
Galveston? Or any fresh water outfits I could contact. Thanks!

Go back to Dulac... You done messed up sending him down there. Really anywhere down there, Dularge, Dulac, Cocodrie, Grand Isle, Biloxi Marsh... Texas has nothing comparable to where you sent him.

Haha......hahahahaha
This is coming from someone who grew up on lake p, actually on lake p, and has been living in Houston for 14 yrs now.
James Plaag is probably the best guide in the Galveston bay complex. There are a ton but most aren’t that great and will charge you big money for a long boat ride.

Honestly, I would go down to Matagorda or even better, Port A or Baffin. There was a thread here a while back about Matagorda fishing guides if you want to search for it.
In Houston, I fish Trinity and East Bay a bunch. My favorite guides are Jim West and Brian Fisher.

I agree with the Matagorda advice. Tons of great guides over there. Brett Sweeney, Caleb McCumber, Pat Gardener, Charlie Paradoski, Trey Prye, etc. I’m sure there are other big names I am forgetting at the moment.

Exactly. Who wouldn't want to fish a fishery that harvests nearly 100% females due to their limits based on feelings and not facts.
I know catching 25 trout is a lot more fun than catching 5, and if a 12 incher makes it in the basket it was a mistake and we were just catching fish too fast to get him out in time for a good chance of recovery. If you need to measure it needs to go back. Also, big girls go back too.

If he enjoys wading with artificials and catching big trout during the winter close to Houston, line him up with Lee Warmke who runs Halfbreed Guide Service in Matagorda. Lee’s a laid back guy who knows where the big trout live in East and will chase redfish just the same. Lots of good guides down in Matagorda and I’d put Lee up there with the best of them.

You said an experience and this would be that,
"send him down to Port Aransas to fly fish reds with JT Van Zandt."
If he's never been to Port A I'm sure he'll like the town. He can take his own gear and try the jetties or make a trip down to PINS. Which brings up another idea, an over night Shark Trip on PINS with Oz, here is his website.
