Watch the 2019 game awards. It was unbearable. It was like a CBS game except all the ads were “don’t vape” and “try Google stadia today!”
There were no ground breaking announcements outside big AAA devs that everyone knew was coming and for the Nintendo people like me and Freauxzen that tune in to that kind of stuff every now and then, there was ONE announcement relevant to Nintendo and that was the NMH 3 reveal in the pre-show.
It was horrible all around.

I haven't watched any. I just don't understand the constant grief Keighley gets from gamers. Again, the guy could be doing anything he wants, hosting one of those dumbass talent shows, or even a new anchor on a major network, but he chooses to cover games and is a great advocate for keeping gaming in the mainstream. The VGA's went away and he took it upon himself to create the Game Awards. It's only a few years old and a work in progress, but I can appreciate him trying.
Is it because he's Canadian?

Televised award shows are gigantic advertisements pretending to be something important.
