It is the 2.2 4 cylinder.

Previous owner said they changed the timing belt at 90k.

That’s crazy low mileage for a 97, if it was taken care of at all (which it sounds like it was), that thing will continue to last you and be a great car for years to come. Toyota really does make great vehicles. Though I do think American cars have caught up in recent years.

The Toyota 2.2l is a non-interference engine so on one that old I would not change the belt again until it broke if it ever does. (I have seen OE ones go 300k in that engine and still be in one piece).
