How do you think LSU stacks up to those teams, talent-wise?
Posted on 8/15/08 at 3:19 am to Fighting Tigers
well obviously...I think LSU can meet or exceed any of the mentioned teams talent-wise....

LSU is the most talented team in the nation. Stacked at every position with backups who could start on other Top 25 schools, except at QB. When you add it all up LSU most talented and every1 know's this. The media is not saying LSU is not good, they are saying that, like in 2006, our schedule will be too tough.

I guess too many prognostications have us automatically losing at both Auburn and Florida.
This is just silly....sure we havent had much success at jordan-hare lately but they are early in the season, have 2 new coordinators, a green qb running a new offensive scheme...hell we have to win there sooner or later...lol...
As for the belly-draggers...should be a repeat of 07 there with them being entirely an offensive threat with yet more poor defensive play, not to mention we have done pretty well in gainsville as of late....
I just like our chances in arguably our two toughest road tests....Les has done very well in holding the home court serve so to speak...and figure that trend will continue....
Lets rock n roll....I am beyond ready for this season to get underway....

TE Ingram from Florida, torn ACL, out for season.
Brendan Beal and Jim Barrie both tore their ACLs.
Safety Marcus Jemison was to have a surgical procedure Monday to repair a broken bone in his lower leg. The procedure is considered routine and a full recovery is expected. He will redshirt, but a redshirt year was likely anyway. ...
Harvin still isn't 100%.
THAT AREN'T ON CRUTCHES

ahaha beal and barrie? ah yes, a true freshman lb that was going to redshirt anyways and a 3rd string ol.
harvin's fine. hasn't missed a meaningful game in his career and won't this year.
ingram hurts and that's about it.
and who the frick is jemison?
so, again, the university of florida gators.

nah, i'll take LSU over UF this year.
tebow is still a beast, but what about the corners?
they got burnt all year long.
and michigan exposed florida's D, and offense big time.

i think most of the schools you mentioned believe year in and year out that they have the most talent in the nation....and that there is really no way to prove it either way.

Please stop talking. There really should be some kind of pre-reqs to posting. So much misinformation circulates these boards
UF is good at CB. Safety is the issue. Major Wright is a future ALL-SEC guy, but they other spot is somewhat up in the air. All reports that I have heard are saying true freshman 5 star recruit Will Hill will get the start, but I don't know if it is set in stone.
UF is lacking depth at safety more than anything. If an injury happens to Major Wright, then it will completely deplete their secondary.

That would be like the Gator football team telling LSU, "ur suxy, i'll leave it at that because you cleary aren't worth playing against in a serious football game." Is that really all you have?

Florida seems loaded with bigtime recruits.
Tons of 5-Stars on that roster.
Heck, Tebow has 2 5-star QB recruits backing him up. By comparison, we've had one 5-star QB on our team this entire decade, and that was only on a brief stop over in route from highschool to Jacksonville State..

so florida wasn't ranked 87th in the country in pass defense at the end of the season?

Spoken like a truly ignorant ranter.
What do you know about the personnel of other teams around the country?
Or how about this...How much do you actually know about LSU's own personal. I am not talking about the stars...do you even know what the depth chart looks like?
Keiland, Scott, and Murphy could all see PT around the country no matter the school (Unless some odd circumstance). I don't know which of those to consider a 'backup' but you get the point.
Our D-LINE has backups that could start at other top 25 teams. The D-line is the only position that has a plethora of players that could start or see extensive PT at other schools.
Tremaine Johnson, Marlon Favorite, Al Woods, Drake Nevis...They could all see major PT outside of LSU.

Have you considered the fact that much of their secondary was young and unproven?
I think you underestimate the difference a year of experience and college training will do.
UF's Linebackers were young last year too, but now they will be one of the strengths of that defense.
