Ran by a couple of gay guys, but they do a good job of explaining the different areas around Orlando

Winter Park. It is a nice area and only a few miles from where you work. It will keep you off of the dreaded I-4.

Those are good spots since you mentioned you have a family.

I lived in the Orlando area for 15 years, between downtown/Kissimmee/Cler
Thank you so much.

If you make a good bit of money, add Celebration to your list.

She’ll be right at 2. My taxes will say 130 this past year in Nola so I’m hoping to be back to that level in Orlando in 3-4 years.

I want to just do a decent home in a good area for the first few years and try and build in the next 5 years our permanent house.

Lake Nona or Jupiter Island. It can be a long drive from Jupiter, so might need a chopper if you want to live out there.

Where are you going to be working? Reason I ask is you'll want to live close to it.

Orlando traffic sucks. Even with the new "upgrades" it will still be horrible.

So your best bet is to figure out where you'll be working, then find the good neighborhoods around it.

This is the best advice here. If you are working anywhere near Disney, you need to be on south side of Orlando. Celebration is the Disney town where a lot of employees live. It's OK if you're into that sort of thing. Being close to one of the major highways could allow you to live further away but keep in mind they are all toll roads except I-4.

Edit: I missed where you mentioned your location. If you are in Winter Park, then Winter Park is a great place to be. Winter Springs also has some very nice areas and is a short drive up 17/92. Someone mentioned Lake Mary which is also nice, but the commute will get a little longer.

Altamonte Springs, Lake Mary areas.

This.

We lived in the Orlando metro for 7 years. Altamonte Springs/Maitland is nice. Oviedo was nice too. Anywhere south of 408 isn't the greatest...unless you are a balla. Windermere is great as is Winter Springs. Heathrow is great if you want a step up from Lake Mary. The key is quick access to the highways. You can get anywhere in the metro within 30 minutes max.

ETA: Seeing Dr Phillips mentioned and that's probably the best place with a minimal commute. The schools are good and they have a top athletics program. Is suggest you take advantage and spend some time hanging out smoking cigars at CCC. I didn't realize how great it was until we moved and nothing near us now is even remotely similar.

Doesn't matter where you live, everything is 20 minutes away.

My mother in law lives in Lake Nona, and seems to be a nice area. My sisters in law go to the high school there and they have tons of clubs/activities and advanced classes. Seems like a cool area to grow up TBH.
