Indeed! Gin and Whiskey were the drinks of men back in the 30s-40s when men were men. Gin is a complex, strong spirit that holds up to whiskey on many levels. It's more for the refined gentleman while whiskey is the rugged (thanks to years of marketing and brain manipulation)
Vodka is for the chicks and soys, because they need juice in their cocktails.
