Why is this opt out thing happening?
Is this about leaving for the virus or this about just wanting to quit the team?
In 30 something years of me following college sports why is this the thing now? How can a kid just leave a team after signing paperwork to go to school at the university.
Down vote all you want Hoss. I just wanna know the truth

The NCAA allowed players this season to opt out because of covid.
At this late point in the season no one is posting out. They are quitting. If you played this any games covid was not and is not a legitimate concern to the play.

Initially because of covid you could opt out and it meant a couple of things:
1. you could come back and it wouldn't effect your eligibility.
2. Agents were allowed to front money earlier in the year so players could live pay for training and live off the money while training for the draft.
now it is basically just quitting. We are 60% through the season, idk why now you decide to "opt out"

Quitting becomes habit forming and the pros aren’t too fond of quitters. There’s a lot of kids who are going to have their dreams dashed and cut short.

I wish there was a rule for every player that can't be touched by NFL until they are a 3rd year player no matter what and not offer money in turn to make them decide to opt out...I know is it a profession worth a lot of money but dam , if it's meant to be, it will be there when time comes....sad that u cant even relax and still be a kid in college and enjoy football at its purest anymore...facts

Unfortunately, unless things are going perfectly, the team mentality is lost. Welcome to “me” culture.

You are right, Michael Jordan quit on three teams. Hopefully these guys don’t turn into habitual quitters like him. Guessing he went broke soon after he couldn’t play anymore like most do.
