for the first time ever. I was in vegas, we went to a club, got a table, I put everything on my CC and my friends gave me cash. At which point I proceeded to blow the cash at the tables, leaving me with a huge bill.

APR = 10.99%

probably carrying over $1000.

the CC company told me that the fee for revolving $1000 at that APR would be something less than $10. Does that sound right? I keep doing the math and I dont see it.

Doesn't sound right at all. Maybe $10 per month.

You're putting a toe in the debt pool. The legs and arms will follow. You're making justifications for the debt with the $10/month fee. Then the debt will be 2K, then 3K and so on. CC companies love you.

Your friends reimbursed you. Your trip to the tables is irrelevant. Remain true to your Plan A - pay it off.

Beware...

Not going to get on a religious kick or anything but casinos disgust me. I hate the way they prey on people's desire to have more money.

Everything from the 'darkened interiors with no windows' to the fact they dont have clocks and the hypocritcal "bet with your head not over" quotes next to the insane amounts of credit card apps & ATM machines spread around.

I am not on my high horse; but I've spent a total of $5 (in nickels) at casinos up in NJ and the experience was not to my liking at all. I spent 12-15 hours there with some friends (I was dirt poor at the time) and got totally depressed looking at the hollow expressions on people's faces as they sat plugging away at slot machines and watching their life waste away hour by hour.

I know..beside the point of the thread but I hope my children don't ever grow up believing you can make a quick buck by gambling. Too much glamorization in Hollywood of the 'high rollers'.

Perhaps the reason why you didn't enjoy your experience was because you only spent $5.00 in the casino?

Yeah, no kidding. Nickel slots with the elderly set in NJ, who knew that wouldn't be fun?

10.99% APR is 0.92% per billing period so your first month's interest should be $9.20.

Credit card companies are the bigger culprit here in my opinion. Casinos won't give you chips you can't pay for.

There is no "culprit". There is nothing to find anyone "guilty" of, so no culprit.

I'm not giving anyone a free pass...people who run up large credit card debts are idiots plain and simple (and this includes me in my former life)...just saying I think credit card companies take more advantage of irresponsible people than casinos.

Moral of the story...don't be a dumbass and then you won't have to complain about getting ripped by a casino / credit card company.

Ive had credit cards ever since high school and this is the first time I've had to do this.

It def will be paid off before the end of Sept.

they said they take the APR and divide it by 365, then multiply it by your average daily balance or something like that. I got lost in the explanation
