I've always preferred skillet/griddle cooked dogs to grilled.
agreed. I boiled them before i lived around NYC, but after tasting the greatness of griddle cooked dogs, i never do them any other way. If i am grilling other stuff and have a large crowd/tailgate i'll toss on some dogs to save time and money....but i never set out just to grill hot dogs. If they are just for me, it's griddle/dry cast iron skillet cooked all the way.
the griddle gives the good snap, which is THE key.
and yes, they sell boar's head down here. never noticed it until i moved back.
