LSU Fans in London

Does anyone know if there is a place in London to watch LSU? Last year I missed the Florida LSU game becaue I was flying over during the game. This year, I'm going over a day early hoping I can find a bar that will have it on. I know it's a bit early to be thinking about it, but want to plan ahead in case I need to buy a slingbox. Any help is appreciated.

I have had occassion to try to watch LSU games in Dublin, London, and various continental European cities. There is essentially a single network that shows college football games each Saturday. The network is called North American Sports Network (NASN). They usually don't announce which games they will air until a couple weeks in advance of the game date.
When I was in Europe, NASN only showed one or two games each week. You had to be very fortunate and have the network select the LSU game for that week. However, it appears that they have expanded their coverage, which is good news for you. See link:

If anyone has any better options, I'd be interested in learing about them as well.

Haven't been in the UK in decades, but you could try the Embassy. They didn't have AFRATs for military personnel in the UK back then. However, the Embassy usually has connections for that for their military and civilian personnel stationed there. If not, you could probably ask one of the Marine guards at the Embassy to tell you where they go to watch the games. But that is a guess on my part.

A place called like "The Sports Bar" right off of P. Circus where we watched NCAA March Madness one year. They will probably show the big football games but don't know about Tiger bars particularly

I know it sucks, but you can always get coverage on lsusports.net with a Geaux zone subscription...
also channelsurfing.net will probably air some games.

P.S. Here is relatively exhaustive list of bars in London that carry NASN:
LINK
I would call the bar owner the day before the game to ensure that NASN is being shown on at least one screen.
Additionally, it has been my experience that bartenders and owners in the UK expect you to be slightly more, err, docile than you might be in a US drinking establishment. I expected them to be inured to hooligans, but it wasn't the case for me.

I was in Bristol for the CWS. I bought a sling box before I left. As long as you have an Internet connection you can watch whatever you get at home. One of the best investments I ever made.

I lived in London last year and recommend the Slingbox. However, Slingbox is limited to the quality of your computer screen and connection.
If you do want to go out to watch games on proper TV screens in a bar setting, there are a few places you can probably start.
You need to check on the schedule though as the other poster mentioned. Since I did not have a car there, I called each time I went to confirm (saved lot of time on the tube).
Also, you need to take into account the time difference and the fact that most of the bars/pubs close around midnight or 1AM if you are lucky. So, if the game is a night game back home, you are SOL. See Slingbox option above.
Also, remember the tube stops running around midnight and trying to find a cab at this time of night is next to impossible. You might be able to find a night bus (limited routes and stops) to get you part of the way.
All that being said, you can try Cheers London. They had games, just never an LSU game when I was there.
I watched the UK game at Bodean's (near Oxford Circus), a decent barbeque place (owned by a Texan I believe). Since we lost, I never went back and found the food wasn't as good or the beer as cold as I remember.
You can also try the Texas Embassy near Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square, which actually was the Texas Embassy way back when (now a Tex-Mex bar). They have a nice upstairs area with pool tables and flat screens and live music.
I recommend Sports Cafe (on Haymarket), which close to the Texas Embassy, an American style sports bar that serves typical pub grub and has plenty of TVs showing multiple games (think ESPN Zone type atmosphere). I think they have a different feed that allows them to get CBS, ESPN, Fox, etc. Decent food, plenty of cold beer.
I know this is probably more information than you want, but it's better to prepare early. You can find all these places and others online. Check the reviews. Good luck with the search.

I live in Norwich and have NASN and a slingbox - its a bit of a hike from London (2 hours on the train) but any LSU fans are always welcome at my house.

I am glad this thread came up.
The Baton Rouge Rugby Football Club is making a tour of England the week before the LSU/UGA and Saints game. We are flying into Manchester on the 23rd of October and making our way down to Bakewell to play a team there.
Saturday afternoon/night we want to watch the LSU/UGA game somewhere. We know that the game will not be available in Bakewell and have to make it down to London for the Saints game on Sunday night.
So we were thinking our best bet would be an American sports bar in London that will carry the game (Probably going to be 2:30 CBS).
What the suggestions for the 10-12 of us.

I really appreciate the info everyone provided. This is one time I hope the game is a day game so I will get a chance to see it at a decent time.

There is a place caleld the Loose Cannon...always have American Football on here, but ESPN is not in every bar as the guy said above.
Lots of NFL, but not so much college. LSU site may be your best bet unless you get lucky.

On an unrelated note, I took a trip to Europe in 1984 and our tour guide in London was a cute gal that had recently returned from a trip to the states. She saw my LSU shirt and told me that she had gone to the LSU-Tulane game in the Dome. I asked her what she thought of the game and American football. She said she didn't understand the game at all but the one thing she did know was that LSU and Tulane fans didn't like each other!
I told her it was too bad that she had not been able to go to Tiger Stadium for a game. That would definitely have left a lasting impression on her. She said if it was any more rowdy than what she experienced, she was glad she didn't. I told her the ugliness was due to the Greenie Weenies as proved by her first hand experience with me, a Tiger fan. We're nice to everybody!

Fellow UK displaced Tiger Fans. I feel your pain regarding game day viewing. As mentioned previously, the slingbox is a great alternative if you really want to catch the games. I've only lived here just over a year now and going into a second season of viewing Tiger Football here. I open my home to any and all Tiger Fans that want to stop by. I pick up the games on my sling box and use an HDMI cable from my computer to my 50" LCD. I live only minutes outside of Cambridge and a short train ride north of London (approx. 60 miles).
Anyone wanting to "tailgate" for a game or two just shoot me an e-mail!

What's Up Tigercowboy? Just around the corner from you my friend. I work over here at RAF Molesworth. I make a trip your way once or twice a week to play golf on Lakenheath and shop at the "Big" BX! lol Shoot me an e-mail and we can figure out some BBQ's for pre-game this year!

Like JesuitTiger said, Bodean's on Poland Street (off of Oxford Street in Soho) and Sports Cafe on Haymarket are your two best bets.
Bonne chance.
