2 star FB gets an offer? What am I missing? He's got impressive stats but is not highly regarded (no big offers)

You guys know I'm averse to giving fullbacks full scholarships ... but my thinking with both Opurum and Singleton is that the coaches feel they can be used as fullbacks or featurebacks.

ETA: I also think this means the coaching staff is getting the impression that Opurum will not be coming to LSU.

He is highly regarded. You guys need to understand that some kids don't get their best offers until the month before Signing Day. It doesn't mean shite that they don't have a big offer sheet right now.

Singleton is a man. Like Kenny Cain. He torched a good Carencro defense for 305 yards rushing. He's highly regarded down here.

Going to be a nice addition for LSU when Singleton comes aboard. Assuming he will, of course.

I think he would be a good pickup! We will need someone to replace big Quinn.

What about that Allen kid that had committed to Tennessee, but was possibly defecting to LSU? He looked pretty good.

With a 4.86 in the forty, my guess is that Singleton would be the slowest feature back to play at LSU in decades. Sounds like a pure FB, at best, to me.

He runs a 4.6 forty. LINKThe 4.86 was in 07.

coming out, he is slightly more athletic than Quinn Johnson was. PLus they play a tougher brand of football in 5A as compared to a lower class. Especially that river parish district

Only seen him once live but it was from a pretty good vantage point - the sidelines at East St. John last year.

It was the John Curtis/ESJ game last year. Singleton does a really good job lowering the pads and putting the boom to would-be tacklers. Curtis kept him pretty well in-check. Definitely didn't shut him down either though. Singleton had a good night.

He has a lower center of gravity which will aid and abet on blocking and running. He's athletic and nimble although I would venture to say his actual 40 is closer to 4.8 than 4.6.

Will be a versatile player in college because I think he's a receiving threat as well, and he will be a menace trying to bring down on a swing pass out of the backfield. He doesn't block much now b/c they run a lot of one-back sets but I feel very confident that he can block just fine.

Unless I'm missing something, it looks like the 4.86 was the last camp time that was listed. Where does the 4.65 come from?

My take: 4.86 was from the combine where Michael Ford ran a 4.69. Everyone ran slow that day. Adjust it down to around a 4.7 under normal conditions.

Makes sense to me. I have no problem believing the kid can run around a 4.7 in good conditions.

He looks more like 6-0, 230, to me.
