Played it last month and a few times Before it closed for covid. Last month the rough was up and tough to find your ball if you didn’t track it. Shouldn’t be much for the pros but it’s a pain for me.

Fridges are slopped and buttery, only 19 traps on the course. If you miss your spot on the green it’s a tough two putt with different ridges. If they want to, the pin locations can be a complete pain in the arse. Either your ball is on top the hole, off the green or a 3 putt away.

They will be going for all but one of the par 5s. Big hitters will do well here.

I did. Doak did a nice job. The greens are wild. Really fun to putt, though they will make you look foolish. I’m sure they’ll be running this week too. I told my wagering enthusiast friend to look for a big hitter who’s really good at three putt avoidance

Golf Digest recently had a good article on the transition to the new course and recent growing pains.

Lanto Griffin and Wyndham Clark are some very good value plays there.

I played in the pro-am yesterday, they took out a ton of trees and it looks great. The tee shot on 3 is going to give a lot of players trouble. 16 will be a fun hole to watch. A lot of the pros will have a mid iron into the green in 2, but if you miss that green anywhere but long you're in the water. I think I heard they are going to push up the tee one day on 13 and 17 and make them driveable. Course conditions were also great.

Heading out shortly to spectate.

Yea I played a couple of weeks ago...

That stringy Bermuda rough is brutal... doesn’t matter who you are that ball isn’t stopping in the green

It feels good to look at Grayson Murray’s score card.

It’s pretty crazy to so many pars and bogies on a 110 yard par 3 15.

That green is a bitch but stil

Yeah they definitely got tricky with the pins on a bunch of these holes. Have you been in the new clubhouse/education center thing there? It looks very nice. I didn’t even realize they had finished yet, I haven’t played at Memorial since August and last few times I ran there it still looked under construction

I haven’t been in it but it was finished when I was last out there. Going to be a primo wedding/cocktail party spot for your rich but not ROCC/HCC rich crowd

Was Brooks Koepka really good at some point? I feel like he is always a featured name but every tournament I've seen he always seems to do poorly.

My high school team used to practice out there. I caught a bit on TV today. Looks completely different.

Did they flip 2 and 9? Damn, I need to get back down to Houston and check it out.

We were in the tent on 18 all day and didn’t see a birdie. The course is playing very tough for these guys.

We also played with Cameron Davis yesterday in the pro-am who is T1. He couldn’t have been nicer so I’m rooting for him.

I wonder how much of it is the course vs shaking some rust off

For ego reasons, I hope it’s the course

I’m going to be in Houston this weekend, is there any possible way to get in there and watch?
