REBRAND AND GIVE UP THE NAME YOU COWARDS

The buyer is a Mormon - he'd trade it for the 'Saints'

They might be open to selling the name. The only reason they kept it is because they maxed out all funds when they bought the team in the late 70's, and they couldn't afford the rebranding costs - they had intended to change the name.

Can’t have the Saints, but they can have the Bobcats which makes a lot more sense in Utah than Charlotte. Or otherwise come up with something that, ya know, has some relevance to their region

This makes sense in year 1, but if you change the name in year 5 or 10, you increase revenue. Everyone that had Jazz shirts and other merch has to go out and spend money on the new logo. I wonder how much merch revenue increased in year one of being the Pelicans from the previous year.
