Im still being told that voting yes on amendment 1 would make abortions illegal in Louisiana.
Am I missing something, because thats not what i gather when i read it.

You are not missing anything. It does not make abortion illegal. That can't be done until Roe is overturned. Then LA laws would kick in and make it illegal. However there is a concern that the LA courts could find a right to abortion in the LA constitution. Thus the amendment.
