I’m assuming you mean a pole barn building that’s built out into a house OP? It’s one thing to not be handy, but there other aspect is to be to be the General Contractor it yourself? The main advantage to a pole barn is that the roof and exterior go up first, so you can live in it while it’s built out.

ETA: my father in law built a “farmhouse“ this way 2-3 years ago at their hunting farm. It’s about 1200 sq ft I believe and their cost was about $80,000. It’s 3 bedroom, 2 bath, with a bunk room and half a garage you can fit a Jeep or 4x4 in. But they scraped together supplies, GC’d themselves, etc.

Some Amish guys threw up the pole barn in a weekend though.

I’m really not sure what a pole barn is. I’m talking about pretty much a metal building built out into a home. It will be just me. Don’t need a lot of space or amenities.
