he Marine Corps has removed its commanding general in Europe and Africa while he is under investigation for reportedly using racial slurs.
Maj. General Stephen Neary, a two-star general, was relieved of his duties on Monday due to a “loss of trust and confidence in his ability to serve in command,” the Marine Corps said in a statement obtained via email by The Hill.
Stars and Stripes reported earlier this month that Neary was under investigation for reportedly using racial slurs when referring to African Americans.

The incident occurred in August, when he made a comment about the music a group of Marines were listening to during an outdoor training session, according to Stars and Stripes.
Some of the music incorporated the n-word, which allegedly prompted Neary to ask other marines how they would feel if he said it.

I was hoping to read that our piece of shite commandant (berger) was relieved. He's the reason crap like this is happening in the Corps.

A Marine Corps general just got relieved for hurting feelings. We are in serious trouble if a real war breaks out.

Patton would have not enjoyed the modern military.
He had issues with WW2 military and use of words.
He would be in Leavenworth by today's standards.
He did however kick Nazi arse. That is really all that matters.
ETA: before any comments to point out, I do know he was Army, not Marine. But at this point, what difference does it make?

The situation does feel insane to relieve him of duty
But just a general rule of thumb, don’t Say the “n-word”
Pretty easy word to avoid. Don’t say it.
This is just practical advice. ConservativeS like to pretend they’re the practical party till they can’t use the N-word. Then it’s all about equality and idealism.

These two statements don't add up...

The Marine Corps is getting soft. He should know better though and has probably been involved in ruining other Marines careers, so fk him.

Adds up. Silliness...but, adds up

The services have changed a lot. The people that make rank, are people like Perfect Peter Pace.

That's not what the article says, but I agree that is probably what happened. I also agree that it's stupid. It's hard to imagine a general being stupid enough to even think about using the word in mixed company.

hat's not what the article says,

Yes it is. They did not "quote" him. The sentence you 'quoted' was not a "quote"..it was descriptive.
