The World Series schedule used to be Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday so if the World Series went to seven games, there would be two Sunday World Series games with Game 7 being on a Sunday night. Case in point, Game 7 of the 2001 World Series was aired on a Sunday night and got 39 million viewers.

Yes, I was just talking about the old format with a buddy, and referenced that very game.

I wouldn't mind it going back to that.

ETA: if I remember right, that Game 7 went up against the Jets/Saints sunday night football game. It was the game Kyle Turley ripped off an opponent's helmet and threw it across the field.

Obviously, the MLB's nightmare scenario is having a Game 7 go up against a Chiefs/Packers Sunday night game. As NFL has taken over in popularity, MLB has had to adjust.
