I pulled the trigger and got a Mavic Mini with fly more for prime day. I'm new to the auto hovering drone market. Is it me or is the mini's flying distance awful? If there are any trees in the area, it seems like I can't get over 1100ft even at 200' high.

I did finally achieve around 3000' but still nowhere near what I see in videos. I've calibrated the compass each time, but noticed my arrow and location of the drone on my phone (center bottom of screen) are totally wrong. Like over 90degrees wrong.

Did I get a screwed up drone? or has anyone had any experiences like this? I've tried city flying AND out on a large tract of land where there is NO wifi interference guaranteed.

Hey, I got a good idea, let’s ask how to break the FAA flight restrictions on the internet. Lol

None of this was in your OP.

Nowhere in your post do you describe how you were being restricted. Did the drone simply halt at distance/altitude and not respond to control inputs? Did you get any messages from the App? Did you properly deploy the antennas? Were you flying in any type of restricted zone? Did you validate your satellite counts? Check Kp values?

Yeah, being isolated is no guarantee of zero interference.
