I've heard rumors coming out of Mississippi that Garrett is still considering Miss. St. Living in Tupelo, State having a great class, his Dad the president of the local alumni association, etc. . . Some are saying that he was blown away by the offer from LSU and accepted, but that he's still open to State. That might be wishful thinking by State fans, but I was wondering if anyone knew how solid his committment was.

And look, it's just a rumor I heard. PLEASE don't come on hear with ignorance and say junk like, "We don't need him," or "If he leaves, fine." That's ignorant. He's a solid QB that I hope we sign. I just want to know if anyone else has heard those rumors or if you know that he's a solid committ.

Garrett will end up at state. Close family ties and not a far drive for friends, better chance to play.

Honestly, i havent heard much about him in a while. But the last thing i did hear was that he was a solid commit and there was no chance of changing his mind, even though his dad is whatever and he lives in Tupalo (Sp)

Well, if you're going to put it that way, then almost everything that gets put on this board should come down because it's a recruiting board which is basically synonymous with "rumor board."

The person I heard it from is actually very well informed. I have lots of connections at State, and this guy was just telling me what he had heard. He didn't know if it was true either, but it was going around.

I don't know how he can stand being in the same house as his parents. If my son turns down LSU and committs to State he would hear about it every day.

I always thought he would change back to state.

yeah he will likely never be a starter at LSU unless Shepard went RP on a Kona waiter

I hate to say it, but i'll pass on him for another open scholly

If RS is as good as we suspect he will be, we dont really need another QB. 4 scholarship guys is enough, and all of them will have major experiance most likely with RS getting aton of PT regardless.

Garrett could easily prove me wrong, but i really haven't seen a ton out of him. Seems like he wouuldn't fit in too well to Crowtons system, but then again he got the offer.

Besides, there are some pretty solid QB's in next years class.

Maybe that should have been in the first post.

Shep will move positions to get on the field faster and will not wait patiently to get his start when Jefferson will be the starter by mid year. Shep has lots of bad throwing habits that make him inconsistent and he obviously loves the limelight. Garrett can't really play another position other than TE and may not be tough enough to make the switch.

I think Chris Garrett is way underrated as a three star recruit. He seems to have everything that is needed to be a star QB in college. Miles, Crowton and company like him enough to offer him in a class with limited schollys available. That in itself says alot. I hope we don't lose him.

this is just pure genius. let me get this straight.....

Jefferson is going to leave high school in May, come to LSU and beat out Lee and Hatch for the starting QB in 2 months? Surely you are not that stupid. Jefferson will get some PT, because we will need his services...but you are very foolish if you think he starts. Very foolish.

Garrett to TE? Not tough enough to make the swap?

Unbelievable.

CG is rock solid to LSU, he will not decommit, he will play QB at LSU and be a damn fine on at that. it will take something astronomicalfor Jordan Jefferson to start at all this year and Russell Shepard is more polished as a passer than Terrelle Pryor is now. every single thing cover has said in this thread is completely uninformed and wrong

Do you need more explaining or do you have trouble listening to what Coach Miles is saying about the QB situation?

Yes Jefferson will beat them out in just two months--smart, athletic and great size and speed. Crowtons offense is designed for him and allows Crowton more options as far as running, passing and making defenses take up valuable practice time to defend him. I can keep going, but i'm not sure if you can keep up.

have you seen a college playbook, its like 4 inches thick, there is no way in hell he could come in and start for this team this year, considering hatch went to Harvard and looks like a fricking carbon copy of Flynn gives him the edge on being smart and executing the offense. let me make this clear, JJ will NOT start this year
