I watch tons of YouTubers that fish 20 miles offshore daily in 18-22'single engine boats. If i was going 50 miles out maybe I would see the need in a 25' twin.

Invest in some good life vest, you are going to need it sooner than later.

Dude. With Venice it’s more than range, distance and capabilities of your boat on a calm day. The river vs the gulf makes for strange currents, waves, etc. also the fog and commercial traffic are extremely dangerous. But you do you hurricane2020.

You have to pick your weather windows, almost always in the summer. I regularly fish 25-30 miles offshore out of Fourchon and Venice in a 20’ single engine Hydrasport Ocean Skiff, but I’m (usually) pretty cautious about the right weather.

Just because some dumb arse like me lucked out a few times doesn’t make it a good idea. What they don’t show you on YouTube is them adrift with blown engine wishing they were anywhere else. I’ve been there too, twice.
