SW pass is always safe to run minus the ship traffic. It's the main shipping lane the corps actually keeps it dredged, you have to watch the edges as many of the wooden weirs are not visible anymore but there but it's the easiest to run of all the passes IMO.

To the OP, near shore rigs and off the shelf don't quite compute for me. I may be wrong but I have always felt off the shelf were more floaters and they are quite a ways out and not do able with a 35 gallon tank. The east bay rigs, whats left in west bay, and the MP rigs are do able however you still have to pick your days and be careful with fuel economy as others have said it's easy to run farther than you think looking at rigs in the distance.

So in your opinion, what pass should I go out of to catch amberjack and red snapper assuming its a super flat day? And which bay/depth would be best?
