Instead we blitzed linebackers, dbs most of game.
That's a Pelini problem, not a D-line problem. Our D-line created a lot of pressure and forced 2 (almost 3) fumbles that helped keep the game much closer than it would have been otherwise. If you wanna blame Pelini for blitzing too much that's fine and I think most would agree, but saying the D-line didn't help against state is far from accurate.

Playing more passive is the way to play against Leach's air raid. I'm not saying defensive linemen shouldn't try to pressure the QB at all, but agian, what good did it really do in the end when they could still get the ball out quick enough to make a difference.
Arkansas had 18 total pressures (only 1 by non DLine) on Costello's 64 drop backs.
We had 41 total pressures (12 by non Dline) on Costello's 65 drop backs.
So almost same number drop backs each game. We got 29 total Dline pressures, Arkansas had 17. Pressuring really is kind of not that relevant against that offense. The more guys you leave back in coverage the better. Many times Arkansas was only bringing 3 guys, thats it.
