***I have started this thread knowing about the recent positive COVID-19 test of a Saints player who traveled with the team to Detroit for today's game. As of the moment I'm typing this there is no word on the game being postponed/canceled due to the test result.
Update: It looks like a 2nd test has come back negative and we are good to go with today's game as scheduled.***
Hello Who Dats & Who Datettes, it's the Week 4, Game 4 Thread of the 2020 Saints season.
This is not where the Saints wanted to be after 3 weeks, but as I pointed out last wekek, a 1-2 start is nowhere near a killshot as the 2017 team overcame a 1-2 start to finish 11-5 and NFC South Champs. In fact, after an 0-2 start that team won 8 straight games, including a 50-burger on today's opponent, the Detroit Lions.
But 50, or even ending the Saints' 2-game skid, may be a tough ask today with the All-Pro receiver missing his third straight game... while the defense that's struggled at times at full strength will be down both starting corners against a perennial pro bowler in Matthew Stafford.
The Lions picked up their first win of the season last week in the desert as a walk off field goal propelled Detroit to a 26-23 win over the Arizona Cardinals after opening losses to the Bears and Packers.
Can Drew Brees and Alvin Kamara and a bunch of journeyman DBs will the team to a road win and get the team back to .500 with 1 home game separating the team from its bye week?
As noted earlier, the last meeting between these 2 teams was in the Superdome on October 15, 2017, a game the Saints dominated from the start, leading 31-10 at halftime in a 52-38 win.
LET'S TAME THE LIONS AND KICK THIS SEASON BACK TO THE POSITIVE SIDE!!!

We're too beat up on defense to manage many stops, so let's just shoot for holding them to FGs. Drew, for the love of God, drink your Metamucil this morning... we need ya, old man.

Never underestimate the power of Matt Patricia fricking things up. A competent team would blow us out this week. We may have a shot here.

Saints safeties are gonna have to play well today.

Decimated secondary combined with a quarterback that can’t throw it more than 10 yards. Seems like an easy prediction

They all picked the Lions on ESPN. We shall see.

Stafford been sacked 9 times already this season... our DL MUST get pressure today
DET's guards have given up 4 each
DET D gives up 5-6 yds/rush... Saints MUST be patient with the run game with Kamara & Murray
