Burrow had ONE month in 2018 to prepare for a season. To learn the playbook and play under center which he last did before high school. He had confidence in himself to do what was necessary. Brennan has been here for 4 years and he looked like he had one month to get ready. That is concerning. Joe made audibles and could read a defense and react. Brennan can’t read a defense and has not reacted. It is one game but it is telling how he has no confidence. If he can get that, he will be fine. If not, then LSU is in trouble big time.

Burrow never lacked confidence. He was in a terrible offensive scheme and hadn’t really started on the college level yet. His struggles were normal and expected. You can tell a lot about QB by looking in his eyes; Brennan looks scared and clueless at times. When did Burrow ever have that look? Brennan had the J. Lee look anytime he faced Bama.

I think Brennan’s issue is confidence. I think he sees and knows what to do but he’s waits too long to pull the trigger into tighter coverage.
I agree with you. Brennan needs to "trust the Force" and pull the trigger. Also, his receivers need to improve fast!

Annoyed the shite out of me how many stupid low football iq people didn't realize we had an amazing qb and a shite offense. Dropped passes, awful play calling, no run threat, horrible blocking. Joe did what he could w that and i doubt anyone would have done better.

"Happy feet" is a disaster. He doesn't have it. If he's the best we got, we're in trouble. In fairness, the offensive line is a joke....are they ever coached??

Will Brennan improve I think so. But he will never be close to Burrow. He simply does not hv that kinda talent imo
Talent is not the problem, Brennan has a good and accurate arm if this is what we call talent.
What Burrow did was throw the ball to the place where the receiver would be open or hit the receiver right when he was open.
Brennan just does not have this football instinct now and may never have it and what separates good/great QB's and those that are not.
Too many plays when Brennan broke out of the pocket and 2 WR's were open in the middle of the field or so close he could have throw to a space.
If you want to call football sense talent then Brennan lacks football sense at this time and he may very well get it and hopefully soon.
An LSU player that comes to mind is the Honey Badger, this guy performed at a level way above his size and star rating. Can you imagine if the H. Badger was a tad taller with a cannon arm, this guy would be all pro every year.

Well, I love your positive outlook, but Burrow never looked like a deer in the headlights. He made mistakes, but never looked like he was scared of anyone.
MB needs to toughen up fast or the team is fricked.
In 2018 it 'felt' that Burrow was waiting for the offense to catch up to him.
It 'feels' like we're waiting for Brennan to catch up to the offense.
I agree wholeheartedly with your confidence comment.
The question is Brennan not trusting his training/instincts because of:
A) lack of experience
or
B) Those instincts aren't there.
The lack of confidence can be the cause, or the effect. One of those we're fricked. The other if everybody keeps doing their job, maybe with some extra reps thrown in, and doesn't panic it will get better... substantially.
I don't know which it is. Those screen captures of multiple open receivers with Brennan not being close to releasing the ball is worrisome. If he had confidence and chemistry he's throwing before they are open. He's not even throwing when they are open. I just don't know the why. The what is pretty obvious.
